eating out NYC
Last Sunday morning at Therese's, Sam awoke to the sound of me making my train reservations through Therese's cat Kitty. From the loft bedroom, he could hear me say Reservations...Reservations...Acela Express...in a low monotone, followed by Kitty's occasional meows of acknowledgement. Actually, I was making my return trip reservations through amtrak's automated voice service, but to Sam it sounded like I was booking my train ride with the amazing travel agent cat.
Anyway after that we set out to meet Pete for brunch at the Ye Olde Waverly Inn, a charming old rustic place Bank street, where the specialty was French Peasant Meatloaf, recommended strongly by our waiter, who was at the same time strangely reticent to reveal what the exact ingredients were. So, i opted for the frittata instead, since all the ingredients were clearly listed on the menu, and it was quite good . In one of the Waverly's function rooms, a small, dispirited wedding reception was taking place, sans music or any other visible signs of festivity. As the party quietly shuffled out through the dining area, the waiter drew our attention away by trying to interest us in a contest: "Win Dinner With Chevy Chase at the Waverly."
Then we visited A Salt and Battery, an authenic British chip shop and haven for both anglophiles and lovers of batter-fried fish and candy. To my delight, the batter-fried Cadbury Creme Eggs were still in season, and so I devoured one in all its gooey chocolatey greasy glory. After browsing some bookshops and dildo stores, I decided to have a slice of pizza for the road, so we stopped at Two Boots, and it was excellent.
It was time to say goodbye to NY once again. I returned to Boston to find that the back windshield and two passenger side windows on my car had been completely smashed, so I had to ride in a tow truck to Andrew Square Auto Glass at 12:30 am, and just made the last T back home.

Plans for SHANLEY! The Musical continue apace. Have the first scene worked out. Do you think Cory Feldman is too old to play "Runaway # 4?"

um, "eating out in NYC" sounds like a much better blog title than "what's more". perhaps you should change it.
